FULL-TIME BARISTA: BOROUGH MARKET & SOHO

We are looking for passionate coffee lovers to join our team as a barista at our Borough Market stall and Soho cafe. The positions offered are full time.

*Looking for candidates to start their training asap*

The person

  • At least one year of experience in the food and beverage sector

  • Comfortable starting early in the day. Punctual and reliable

  • Methodical, clean and tidy, high attention to detail

  • Learning and growth oriented. Curious, self-aware, calm and above all, kind

  • Able to serve customers with courtesy and attentiveness in a fast-paced environment. Manual dexterity and multitasking skills required

  • Comfortable speaking to customers enthusiastically about our product and our mission. Must genuinely care about economic justice and the situation of farmer communities in Colombia

  • Outgoing personality, keen to build strong relationships with the team. Whatever sense of humour you have, we're ready for it

  • Willing to continuously learn about the universe of coffee, and comfortable becoming an educator and a leader for new team members down the line

  • Bonus if you have a category B driving license and are certified in food hygiene and safety!

The Offer

  • Competitive salary dependent on experience and uptake of training.

  • 28 day paid holiday

  • Spanish and yoga classes paid by the company

  • We will teach you everything we know about coffee: you will learn about our Colombian coffee varieties from production and sourcing, to roasting, cupping and brewing.  You will thoroughly grasp the guiding principles of how to make the perfect espresso, as well as understanding the flavour profile of each coffee variety, different recipes and latte art methods (full barista training for beginners if you are the right person).

  • You will also learn about the international coffee market, its harmful effects on independent farming communities, and how we are trying to support their prosperity in Colombia

  • Plenty of space for professional growth: we are transitioning towards a worker-led business model, so we want to retain and promote staff to ensure the company's growth based on teamwork and efficient knowledge transfer

  • Depending on performance, there are chances of travelling to Colombia to visit coffee-growing communities and to train Colombian baristas on the latest London barista trends

  • As much high quality coffee as you'd like!

We are looking for keen coffee lovers who are friendly, ethically minded, hard-working, ready to lend a hand, positive and bring good vibes to an amazing team.
