Van Driver

Various markets

We are looking for a van driver to help us transport our coffee equipment – coffee machine, furniture, coffee grinders, gazebos – to markets around London, primarily in Hackney and Fulham, on Saturdays and Sundays.

  • Hours would be 7am-10am in the mornings. You would be required to meet at our roastery at Flat Iron Square (SE1 0AB) to load the van carefully with all the necessary equipment, and then drive to the market site, help unload the van and set up the stall if necessary.

  • Closing hours would be 6.30-8pm. Tasks would include loading the van appropriately and driving back to our roastery to unload the van.

  • Barista training:  if you are interested in the specialty coffee we will offer you Barista/Roasting training and the possibility to join our team

  • Full category B driving license.

  • Experience driving medium-sized vans in London.

  • We are a speciality coffee company specialising in single-origin Colombian varieties. We use antique furniture at our markets as well as expensive coffee brewing and grinding equipment. Therefore, we need someone who is going to handle our equipment and furniture with care.

  • There is also the possibility of taking on more work with us as a barista at these markets. Any prior barista experience or an understanding of speciality coffee would set you up to make this transition.

  • Van to be driven is a Vauxhall Vivaro.

Borough Market

We are looking for truly passionate coffee lovers willing to join our team at Borough Market.

The person

  • Attitude: there is never a dull moment at the market and our roastery.  Being trained to work at both (and often doing so in the same day!) can be tough. A willingness to learn, adapt as you go along, and deal well in stressful situations is therefore super important.  Borough Market in-particular is a vibrant place, so being outwardly warm and confident is a must.

  •  Genuine interest in our social enterprise.  Getting by in London is difficult, but if you are just in it for the money, this job is not for you. We generate sales so that we can support coffee-growing communities in Colombia, and we would not be able to operate in the speciality market without the quality of the products produced.  It all starts with the farmers, so an interest in coffee which is not just consumer-based is key.

  • You are already a coffee lover with a great knack for customer service and you are looking to expand your knowledge and skills in order to become a professional Barista.

  • You love Borough Market.

  • You can cope under pressure in a fast-paced environment.

  • Excellent customer service skills.

  • Willing to learn about the origins of coffee.

  • Hospitality or catering experience  would be a definite plus.

  • Above all, you are passionate about a career in the Specialty Coffee sector.

The Offer

  • A competitive salary

  • Full Barista training: you will learn about our Colombian coffee varieties from production and sourcing, to roasting, cupping and brewing.  We will teach you everything we know about coffee

  • You will learn the skills of the day-to-day operation: the guiding principles of how to make the perfect espresso with each variety of coffee, as well as understanding their flavour profiles, learning the different methods of latte art, and the different roles required both in our roastery in Flat Iron Square and our stall at Borough Market

  • Plenty of space for professional growth and development.

  • Depending on how well you help us to tell our story through amazingly well brewed & served drinks, there may be chances of travelling to Colombia to train Colombian baristas on the latest London barista trends.

  • This is a great opportunity to learn about ethical trade and get involved in social development projects in Colombia.  You will also learn about the international coffee market, it’s harmful effects on independent farming communities, and how we are trying to support their prosperity in Colombia.  Part of the customer experience both at Borough Market and our roastery is education, so a willingness to learn about the impact of our operation beyond latte art and flavour profiles is super important.

We are looking for keen coffee lovers who are friendly, ethically minded, hard-working, ready to lend a hand, positive and bring a good sense of humour to an amazing team.
